Headquartered in sunny Los Angeles, Student Brands is an education technology company that operates multiple direct-to-student businesses focused on Study Tools, Writing Help, and Literary Research. Our team currently manages 20+ websites and mobile apps in 10+ countries. Given the struggles of today’s Students, our strategic plan includes expanded offerings in Financial Aid and Career Services in the near future.

Student Brands was named one of Los Angeles’s Best Places to work in 2014, 2015, and 2016 by Los Angeles Business Journal. Investing in our team is the best way we can create great content and tools for our Students.

THOMAS SWALLA

CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Thomas Swalla is the Chief Executive Officer of Student Brands.  Prior to Student Brands, Mr. Swalla was the COO/CFO of Savings.com; a venture backed business that was acquired by Cox Media Group for over $100M.  Prior to Savings.com, he was an executive at several venture-backed technology companies including RazorGator Interactive Group (Kleiner Perkins, Oak Investment Partners) and Knowledge Adventure (Azure Capital).  Mr. Swalla has significant transactional experience alongside profitably scaling businesses with global operations.  Mr. Swalla has a BBA in Finance & Management Information Systems from the University of Iowa.

BRIAN LEE

CHIEF PRODUCT OFFICER

Brian Lee is the Chief Product Officer of Student Brands. Brian has led global product teams at multiple high trafffic B2C technology companies including Savings.com, BabyCenter, and CREDO Mobile. As the head of product for BabyCenter–the largest online community for new mothers–Mr. Lee led BabyCenter’s rapid international expansion through the development of a global platform localized in 20 markets. Brian has an MBA from Berkeley, and a BA in Applied Math in Economics from Harvard University.

SUDHIR KRISHNASWAMY

CHIEF TECHNOLOGY & OPERATING OFFICER

Sudhir Krishnaswamy is the Chief Technology & Operating Officer of Student Brands. He has served in leadership roles in both venture and private equity-backed technology companies including Paciolan (CTO), Openfield Technologies (CTO), Razorgator (GM, CTO), and Jumpstart Games (CTO). Mr. Krishnaswamy has built multiple offshore operations with more than 200 people . At Jumpstart Games, he built a multi-platform educational 3D MMO world, including the engine that powers School of Dragons from the “How to Train Your Dragons” film franchise. He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from R.V. College of Engineering, Bangalore.

JOHN ASALONE

CHIEF REVENUE OFFICER

John Asalone is the Chief Revenue Officer of Student Brands. Previously, he ran revenue and analytics operations at Zynga and Brainscape, and spent six years as an engagement manager at Booz Allen Hamilton. While at Booz Allen, he led teams who advised global Technology/Energy/Defense clients on a range of strategic and operational topics. Prior to that, he served as an Economist for the Executive Office of the President at the White House. He has MA in Economics from the University of Toronto.
